Hunting the Siren,
post-apocalyptic vampire erotic romance
What
drives, motivates, and/or inspires Kasar?
Kasar is an engineer who was working in Moscow when
the earthquakes start tearing the world apart. He’s a descendant of Genghis
Kahn and, drawing on that strength, he hikes back into the Russian Steppes to
find his sister and her children – the last of their bloodline. Instead, he
finds her gone and that the Vampire Queen of his old uncles’ fireside tales is
real.
That
sounds like quite a shocker for Kasar.
Give
us some insight into Imogen. What’s a bit of her back story?
Imogen is very, very old. She became a vampire back
in the Roman days. She’s incredibly strong, a Vampire Queen and leader of her
people, but once she was a vulnerable young mortal woman, who was caged and
kept in a zoo.
Wow,
so the strong Vampire Queen had a meager beginning as a human. Intriguing.
Why
this location? Anything in particular in real-life that made you select it?
I picked the Russian Steppes, because it’s one area
of the world that should be relatively stable if there are massive earthquakes
and also mostly free from coastal flooding. Once I settled on that, one of my
critique partners got all excited about yurt sex and furry boots and the story
went from there…
Is
Hunting the Siren included in a
series? If so, what series and can you give us titles and a tagline for other
books in this series?
Yes, this is book 2 in the Blood Currency series. The first book was Feeding the Vampire.
Through good luck and
healthy cowardice, Misty has survived the earthquakes that have torn the world
apart, but has no skills to speak of. Or so she thinks. She does have blood,
and someone must feed the vampire who has offered his protection and strength
in exchange for sustenance. Feeding Ivan is a priority, and Misty finally
serves a purpose.
But when she awakens
tied to his bed, an unwilling gift to Ivan from the townspeople, she discovers
he has hungers other than blood. Hungers he expects her to satisfy in the most
carnal manner. Under his seductive persuasion, Misty discovers she has the
power to sustain Ivan in all ways—while experiencing unspeakable pleasure
herself.
Yum,
Jeffe, sounds like a sizzling hot read;)
Can
you share anything about the vampires in the story? What’s unique about them?
Imogen’s band of vampires are called the Nightriders.
They’ve lived on the Steppes for centuries, feeding off the nomadic humans
there, the same way the humans follow the reindeer and other animals. They’ve
managed to stay the stuff of legends, until the earthquakes – and ensuing
disease and radiation decimate so much of the human population. Then Imogen
takes bold steps to save her people.
What
are you working on now?
I’m within days of finishing the sequel to Rogue’s
Pawn, which you interviewed me about on July 10. I think it will be
called Rogue’s Possession.

Hunting the Siren
Book Two in the Blood Currency Series
By Jeffe Kennedy
A
vampire queen grown powerful with age, Imogen has protected her band of
nightriders through the centuries. When refugee vampires from
earthquake-shattered Europe seek shelter and sustenance, she’s honor-bound to
feed them, by any means necessary. When her lieutenants dump the vengeful human
man Kasar at her feet, Imogen succumbs to his masculine vitality and her
overwhelming hunger for his blood—and his body.
Kasar
has survived the breaking of the world, only to discover the vampire queen has
slaughtered his sister and her unborn child. With the last of his bloodline
dead, only his desire for vengeance keeps Kasar alive. He imagines he can
pretend to succumb to Imogen’s seduction—not that he has much of a choice,
chained as he is to the foot of her bed—and bide his time until he has an
opportunity to kill her. The passion he finds in her arms is unexpected, and
impossible to resist. But this haven of desire and satiation could easily
destroy them both.

Good Morning Jeffe:)Welcome back...I brought coffee or a selection of teas...name your pleasure;)
I have another question for you - hope you don't mind. I've been struggling with ending of my story due to a villain that wanted to be redeemed...it's taken me absolutely months of working through to make this happen...have you run into any of your story-stars being belligerent and wanting to go their own way...which doesn't make sense...but you find you have to comply because it is their story?
Good morning, Kay Dee! I'll go for the coffee. Any gingerbread lattes available? :D
Oh yes, I totally understand what you mean. I usually feel I don't control the story at all. It's not really mine. In fact, I'm hitting something similar at the end of the sequel to Rogue's Pawn - I really didn't want it to go to a particular place and the story kept going RIGHT THERE. Just yesterday I gave up and wrote it to that place. It will be interesting to hear what my CPs say! My advice is to stop fighting it and go where the character wants to. Sounds like it's meant!
Thanks for sharing your character control...well, no control (LOL) with us.
Also, I saw that gingerbread latte on your interview and immediately decided I'm going to try one:) My usual is an Earl Grey Latte...yummy...they infuse it with a shot of vanilla and it's absolutely delicious...I believe at StarBucks it's called a London Fog (grins).
Okay...here's your gingerbread latte...enjoy;)
ooh - nom nom nom. thank you!
Love those Early Grey ones, too - tres yummy.
Jeffe...it's been great fun having you as a featured guest author ~ and I hope you consider coming back soon with your next book in this series;)
