Amanda J. Greene ~ Rulers of Darkness Series, Historical ParanormalRomance...so good!

Hello Amanda, welcome! Our chat today is about the second book in your Rulers of Darkness series, Caressed by Night, another historical paranormal romance. Before we get into the awesome book stuff, here’s a bit about the author, Amanda J. Greene:

Amanda J. Greene is an erotic paranormal romance author. When she is not writing, she can be found playing the role of a full time university student, who works part time.

She lives in Southern California with her very supportive military husband and their sweet cocker spaniel.

Okay, Amanda…let’s get to the interview, I have so many questions I want to ask…

KDR ~ Is Caressed by Night included in a series? If so, what series and can you give us titles and a tagline for other books in this series?

AJG ~ Yes, Caressed by Night is the second book in my Rulers of Darkness series. Caressed by Moonlight is the first installment; it is a historical paranormal romance that takes place in the early 1800s.

Caressed by Moonlight tagline: One sweet stolen kiss brings them together, but treachery and death threatens to tear them apart.

KDR ~ What drives the hero, Dimitri?

AJG ~ Well, Dimitri is the last pureblood vampire and has been searching for his mate for hundreds of years. He knows she lives in Las Vegas and can’t wait any longer to claim her. He has also been plotting revenge against the traitor who tried to kill him 400 years ago and has set a trap for his enemy in Sin City.

KDR ~ Dimitri sounds like a vampire with a mission…well, two missions. Intriguing.

Who is Kerstyn to Dimitri? Can you give us a bit about the first time they met each other?

AJG ~ Kerstyn is Dimitri’s mate, though she doesn’t know that piece of information right away, she does know Dimitri is incredibly yummy. Their meeting is not exactly perfect, she is running from attackers who, come to find out, were vampires that wanted to make a meal out of her. Dimitri saves her and the instant their eyes meet, sparks fly.

KDR ~ Oh…I love those kind of first meetings between hero and heroine. Love those flying sparks *grins*

Can you tell us about the abilities of Dimitri? How do they help OR hinder?

AJG ~ Dimitri is the oldest and strongest vampire. He can read minds (vampire’s and humans), teleport, and see the future. His ability of foresight is both a blessing and curse, for he can see what is to come and is powerless to stop it, such as, the death of his mate, Kerstyn.

KDR ~ Yeah, seeing the death of your mate would really suck.
Okay, what about the location? Anything in particular in real-life that made you select it?
AJG ~ I chose Las Vegas for a few different reasons.

1.      I like the city.

2.    Within this series, the U.S. belongs to the Outcast Society of vampires and Gabriel Erhard, who is a side character within this book, claims Las Vegas as his territory.

3.    It is an interesting place for a paranormal romance to take place

4.    This book foreshadows another story that will take place later within the series – another book that will be set in Las Vegas.

KDR  ~ Tell us about Dimitri’s world?

AJG ~ Within the Rulers of Darkness series there exists 4 different species: humans, vampires, witches, and shape-shifter. For the most part, humans do not know of the paranormal creatures.

Vampires are split up into 4 clans: Mylonas, Validus, Voidukas, and Volkov. There is also a group known as the Outcast Society, made up of those banished from their clans or those deemed unworthy as members of a clan. The clans’ structure is hierarchal with a king (also referred to as chieftain) at the top, a second (an heir selected by the king), then members of the nobility (consisting of older, stronger vampires), Black Knights (sworn to protect the members within the noble houses) and, at the bottom, peasants – the average vampire. The European continent has been divided amongst the vampire clans into territories. The U.S., Canada, and parts of South America belong to the Outcast Society.

          There are two witch tribes:

1. The Shaw are peaceful and possess great magical abilities. Their leader, the Shaman, is the most powerful witch and is continuously reincarnated, so that he does not lose his memories or power. If the Shaman decides to “retire” he must select another to pass his knowledge, memories, and powers to, generally selected from the Shaw Priestess sect. They live on Voidukas Vampire Clan territory.

2. The Red Order are vampire hunters. They possess little to no magic, depending on their training, but are abnormally physically strong. Their territory consists of Western Europe.

Last are the shape-shifters. They have only been mentioned in the first two books of this series, but will have a larger roll in upcoming stories. The shape-shifters are divided by animal species, each belonging to a pack – there are no wolves/werewolves but bears, all large cats, birds of prey, and snakes. They created the myth of werewolves to distract humans. They live mainly in North and South America, Africa, and Asia. Each pack has their own hierarchy, with an alpha (male or female) at the top.

KDR ~ It sounds like excellent world-building, Amanda.

What are you working on now?

AJG ~ I am currently working on Caressed by a Crimson Moon, book 3 within the Rulers of Darkness series. I can’t wait to share this installment with my readers. I feel it will be the best yet!

KDR ~  Where can we find you? List all of your links.

AJG ~ I can be found on Facebook, Twitter, Goodreads and Shelfari. I also have a blog where I post things just for fun and an official.

Rulers of Darkness #2

By Amanda J Greene

Blurb:

Dimitri Arsov, the last remaining pure vampire, was thought to be dead for the past four hundred years. Now, he is back and has a score to settle with the traitor that had tried to kill him centuries ago. Kerstyn Ingmar’s life was normal and straight up boring until the night she is rescued by the dangerously sexy, powerfully mesmerizing, Dimitri.

Unable to resist his diamond blue eyes and intense kisses, she is drawn into his world of darkness and closer to her impending doom.

Hello Amanda, good morning! So great to have you here today. I brought coffee with me *smile* AND brownies, too. I've got a craving for chocolate this morning.

Amanda, your world-building sounds intriguing...how many sessions of brainstorming or rather how much time was involved with bringing it into story-form?

Hi Menina, Hello Kelly...thanks for stopping by to visit with Amanda :0)

Her world building is in-depth...I agree...sounds like you could step right into it and know it to be true.

I'm so curious about how much time was involved...and how did you physically map it out, Amanda?

Caressed by Night sounds just like the kind of book I love to read. I love Vampires as romance heroes:)
The world building for this series sounds very involved, I like the idea of so many different type of paranormal beings involved. Will your shapeshifters/weres behave different than is the norm?

I could not tell you how many times I've don brainstorming for the world building aspect - lost count so long ago. I do conduct brainstorming sessions with a friend of mine - I bounce ideas off of her. She helps me keep things in order because if I don't write it down, I will forget it! I try to do outlines, but I ever stick to them and they become a mess scribbles and cross out...things that I can no longer read lol Book 3, Caressed by A Crimson Moon, will have much more to do with the supernatural world I have created - much more in depth. Thank you for having me here today!
